BREAST LIFT (MASTOPEXY)
Breast lift (mastopexy) improves its aesthetic appearance without volume enhancement.

Although it may look like enlargement, it is more rearrangement of existing breast tissue displaced inferiorly by gravity.

Best candidates for this type of surgery are women with sagging but not hypertrophied breast with good skin elasticity. Most frequently it is performed in young mothers after breast feeding  who want to restore natural shape of mammary glands or females after weight reduction.

In patients with low-grade breast ptosis with volume depletion, implant insertion may be the best option.
Mastopexy is performed in general anesthesia.

Skin incisions depend on technique employed and may be placed in periareolar area, lower half of the breast and submammary area. Although resulting scars are permanent they became hardly conspicuous after normal healing is complete.

Patients after mastopexy stay overnight in the facility.

Return to normal (non-strenuous) activity takes 10-14 days. Sport activities (jogging, fitness) may be resumed after 3 months. In post operative period compression (sport type) bra must be used for 3 months.

Although result of breast lift can be seen immediately after the surgery breast shape will improve gradually within 6-12 months. Obtained result is long-lasting but not permanent. Surgery doesn't stop natural aging processes. Weight changes, pregnancies and hormones can change result of mastopexy.

This short information doesn’t replace medical consultation in the office.
